Deputy Prime Minister: Logistics Vietnam is 'backwards' to the world

Vietnam's logistics industry contributes very modestly to GDP, only 3-4%, whereas logistics costs in the cost of enterprises are very high, contrary to the world.

That's what Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized at Vietnam Logistics Forum 2018 in the morning of December 7.

Vietnam Logistics Forum is an event co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the World Bank in cooperation with Vietnam Economic Times and some annual organizations since 2013. This year, the forum was held in Ha Long City in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province. The selection of Quang Ninh, a province has a strong development step to organize this year's forum, according to the Deputy Prime Minister is very important significance.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, on the general policy, the document of the 12th Congress affirmed that logistics is a high value-added industry, aiming at high and sustainable growth. The service sector must have a higher growth rate than the average GDP, in which the value-added industry like logistics needs to be very concerned.

However, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized a slightly backward index when the contribution of logistics to GDP is very modest, 3-4%, whereas the cost of logistics in the cost of enterprises is very high, on the contrary. with the world.

In an effort to improve this index, the Deputy Prime Minister said that after the Prime Minister issued the decision 200, the industry had a strong breakthrough, averaging 12-14% in the past 3 years, WB ranking report. Logistics in 160 countries in Vietnam has increased by 25 places to rank 26, ranking third in ASEAAn countries. That is a very good achievement.

But how can logistics continue to develop strongly, especially the development of the business sector when there are no really big businesses in this area, making the contribution of this industry increase and cost Is the business falling down? The Deputy Prime Minister asked questions and stressed that this is the key and core issue of all logistics forums.

The Government expects the contribution and suggestions for the Government, localities, ministries and agencies, what should be done to not only develop the market of domestic logisytics but also reach out to the world.

With the theme of logistics forum connecting economic growth areas, Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party's policy is to strengthen regional links. The inner function is very simple, the State as a creator must complete the general planning, including logistics, on that basis, mobilize resources for development. The second is to create value chains of products and services, this problem cannot be directly done by the State.

So the Deputy Prime Minister is looking forward to the constitutional forum with the Government and local authorities to do this well.

With the participation of more than 300 businesses at Logistics Forum 2018, according to the Deputy Prime Minister's assessment, this is a good sign. By businesses themselves, in which the role of associations will create a chain of logistics products and services.

The next issue was raised by Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue about how to develop the logistics industry in terms of e-government, digital economy and e-commerce.
